  • Butter
  • 300g All purpose flour
  • 1cp of water or milk
  • 1tsp baking powder
  • 2-3 tbsp olive oil (or vegetabel oil)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

In a saucepan melt butter over low heat to prevent burning.

When the butter is melted add the onion to the green peppers and fry well until the onion becomes transparent. Set it appart

In the pan where we previously fried the onion and bell peppers, we will put the refried beans RG and incorporate them, stirring constantly until they are well fried, if you want them to be softer you can add water to change a little bit the consistency of the beans, that will depend on your taste.

(This step is optional you can substitute with premade flour tortillas)

Step 2

To make the tortillas place in a bowl 300 gr of wheat flour and add 1 cup of water, oil, baking powder and a pinch of salt mix and knead until a homogeneous mixture is achieved, let stand about 15 – 20 minutes.

Form small balls with your hands and flatten the dough with your hands or a rolling pin until it takes a circular and thin shape, then on a comal over low heat put the tortillas and turn it until it is well cooked this can be 35-40 seconds per side.

Step 3

Once the tortillas are ready, we will take one and start to fill it with the beans, chorizo, cream and cheese and fold it in half.

Finally decorate with avocado and sour cream (this step is optional) you can also add the avocado to the filling of the baleada, and enjoy this traditional Honduran dish.
